Despite having lived in Provo for a year and a half, I have yet to learn how to appropriately dress for the weather. This is mainly due to the fact that I own clothing for one season: Fall.
My clothing does not create sufficient warmth for the winter of this frozen tundra. If I must go outside, I put on my one somewhat-warm winter coat and boots, and simply walk as fast as possible to my destination. This is all that protects me from the bitter elements of a Utah winter. When the summer months hit, I become a human furnace because all I own are shirts that must be worn with cardigans which--as it turns out--are excellent heat-conductors.
Now that it is spring, I have observed--due to the moist state of my pant-legs and shoes--that I own only one article of clothing that is waterproof: a slick navy blue jacket that I acquired my sophomore year of high school, but did not use until my move to Provo. That is all. No umbrella. No galoshes. Or any other appropriate foot covering that can withstand the slow-drenching rain. My spring will be spent in a state of perpetual dampness.
Perhaps I will use my summer holiday to determine the answer to the age-old question: How do you have a season fit for all seasons without having a closet four seasons thick?
